"The Infernal Devices: Clockwork Angel" out today in the US!

Clockwork Angel was released in the United States today. Written by Cassandra Clare, a past fan fiction extraordinaire, Clockwork Angel is the first book in the new prequel series to The Mortal Instruments called The Infernal Devices.

A story that takes place in Victorian London, it sheds some light on the Lightwoods, the Herondales, and I'm sure a few other Shadowhunter families that are the main focus of The Mortal Instruments. And I have personally be told by Cassie Clare herself on twitter, that we will get to see everyone's favorite warlock, Magnus Bane, and some of his previous relationships that he mentions now and again throughout the first series. Here's the synopsis from the front flap:

"When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: Jem, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length...everyone, that is, but Tessa.

As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world...and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all."

Now, before I go off and begin reading, just let me tell you the absolute chaos I went through to get this book today. First, I wasn't going to buy it today, because I only had a little money right now, however, because my check is in the mail, I decided "What the hell!" and raced off to Walmart. Unfortunately, thinking it would be cheaper, I didn't have enough money with me. So I drove to Target, when my gas light comes on in my truck. But I was nearly to Target, so I kept going, only to find that it was even more at Target. Depressed, I drove home, thinking I might have to wait for my mother to come home so we can go to Cosco to buy it.

Luckily, I decided to check my email, when I found I had a 30% off coupon for Clockwork Angel at Barnes and Noble. But wait, I still needed gas. So I dug into my piggy bank for a few extra dollars and went to the gas station. Then, I was so excited, I nearly drove away from the gas station without pumping the gas I just paid for! I finally got to Barnes and Noble, bought it, raced home, made myself some Kool-Aid, and am now ready to bury myself completely into Victorian London.

And I am almost positive that I will be up all night finishing it. I wouldn't be a Night Owl otherwise!
